Description

Appearance

Maeve’s tan skin looks as if it was never touched by the sun despite her long days outside as a kid. There isn’t a single freckle above her slight green undertones, just a beauty mark under her left eye. She looks mostly human, her features a mix of her parents, though her bright blue eyes match the ocean instead of her parents eyes. Her hair is also a bit strange. Though the wavy texture is rather similar to her mother, the roots and tips of her hair are a dark green that fades into a white. The slightly pointed ears that stick out of her wavy bob are also a tell for her not so human origin.

When her divine nature is on full display, Maeve gives off a blue-green radiant light. Her eyes glow bright with this light making her pupils basically invisible as it seems as her eyes are simply just light. The most striking addition to her appearance in this form is the two incorporeal wings that sprout a little ways from the middle of her shoulder blades. They are formed from sea water and seem to move as such but defy what water should be doing at the same time. And just like the rest of her, they too give off the same blue-green glow.

Armor

Unless sleeping or taking care of it, Maeve will be wearing her bronze armor. A set of chainmail and ornate pieces that feature scallop shells and ocean patterns. She started making this set of armor years ago and has fixed and updated it as needed across the years. Her armor is a comfort to her and if it didn’t cause problems she would probably wear it to sleep. It being nice, polished and looking perfect is a priority for Maeve.

Current Outfit

Maeve's current outfit is made up of a light blue, high collared dress with a pair of grey pants as a base. A red dress is wrapped over her chainmail and on top of that is the rest of her armor as well as some armor on top of her brown knee high boots. Finishing her outfit is her teal, hooded cloak that rests on her shoulders, clasped with a bronze pin, and a double wrapped belt holding her sword and dagger at her waist. She also has small hoops in her ears, one silver and one gold.

Personality

Maeve could be described as someone who definitely has a bit of an abrasive personality. She tends to choose harsher words over kind ones and be indifferent to anything that isn’t directly affecting her. Her outward personality reflects her attempts at living her life by her authority, a grasp at the control she lacks. Maeve only really presents herself in the extremes, loud and argumentative or quiet and insecure with no lasting, stable middle ground.

She is definitely someone who is easily wrapped up in her interests and thoughts. She could spend all day doing something she loves and not realize any time has passed at all or talk to people she enjoys about her interests and never know when to stop. This can work in an unfortunate direction though, when she gets caught up on a negative thought or a task that is terribly unimportant in regards to what is happening around her. This is just another unfavorable trait that adds to a seemingly selfish demeanor.

She is definitely selfish. Not in a way that is purposely malicious, but in the way of neutrality. She won't let someone in front of her die but she will not go out of her way to help someone she does not know or care about. Her divine situation only drives this behavior. Being destined for selflessness without choice has definitely pushed her towards the opposite of altruism. That is not to say change isn’t possible. Maeve has never had a catalyst to change her view on the world and the people in it. Familiarity doesn’t give way to a shift in thinking and up till she woke up in another plane, familiarity was all she had.

Biography

Background

Maeve was born to her two loving human parents in the small coastal village of Wallingsor. Her parents had prayed to their goddess Vlerolen for a child and she answered by giving them a baby with wings and a radiant glow, an aasimar.

Before her twelfth birthday Maeve went to school during the day with the rest of the kids in town. She learned the basics of math, reading and writing, history and such. She played and learned just like any other kid. The impromptu glowing wasn’t the best for hide and seek but it wasn’t a thought when she was younger. When she wasn’t at school or running around town with the other kids she was at the family shop. Stocking shelves, sweeping floors, or her favorite, counting coins. She was helping her parents and learning the business. Aside from the wings, everything was simple before her twelfth birthday.

As tradition with a youth apprenticeship at The Estrelles Forge, on her twelfth birthday Maeve was brought to the forge by who she was going to be learning under, her uncle and her mother. It was a wonderful day and nothing had ever felt more perfect than being at the forge. She was literally glowing with excitement the whole time, her wings on full display as she was leaning over the anvil for the first time.

That night and every night thereafter were filled with nightmares. Her simple life had turned into dreading the end of the day. A little twelve year old Maeve would make herself sick avoiding sleep, becoming irritable and abrasive instead of the always happy girl that would run through Wallingsor without cares.

As she got older she got mostly used to the dreams and she was usually able to sleep well enough to get what her body needed from it. When she became able to focus on the dreams instead of just being terrified by them, she began to understand what they were. People she had never met became familiar as she gained coming knowledge and pieced together what her older self was going to do in an unspecified amount of time. A future quest.

“So be it then” was Maeve’s point of view after realizing that trying to get closer to the people around her was futile. They didn’t want to be around her and she was just going to have to leave on some quest anyway.

When she turned sixteen her apprenticeship became everyday and school was in the past. Her days were filled with learning how to be a smith and a cleric. From learning how to make anything from pots to plate, weapons and tools, to training with the very weapons and armor she was working with, and to practicing wielding her clerical magic and forging with her divine gifts. Maeve liked her simple routine of working at the forge and her family shop and sitting on the beach in her freetime. She only really associated with her family, to her that was for the better. Beyond her family she would go along with her mother to book club sometimes, listening to the ladies gossip, or be present for town festivals and such but really she kept to herself. She was focused on the future.

Maeve knows what her purpose is and she is just waiting for it no matter how much she wishes she didn’t bear the curse she was blessed with. She can’t change her circumstances but the way she sees it, she can isolate in hopes of not having to leave behind relationships when her quest finally comes.

He is fine. Maeve doesn't mind his usual silliness and thinks he is a chill guy. He definitely needs to work through his dead friend stuff though.
